Social Activities
The Social Activities team, led by Caroline Whalley, play a vital role in the overall care of our residents. Members of the team are available 7 days a week, and each morning serve coffee to residents individually, thus providing the opportunity to discuss any personal problems or requirements.
Monthly Activities (Activities Programme for February)
The very varied activities programme is changed each month with the aim to attract as many residents as possible to join in the structured activities or outings which take place 5 times a week.
Activities can range from talks with guest speakers, musical afternoons, arts and crafts, cookery, word games, keep-fit and celebrating anniversaries and dates of special interest and significance.
The Sculpture Garden is an annual exhibition held in the grounds at Birtley House. In this picture, residents are shown making a collage of their favourite sculpture.
Occasionally, residents have given talks or demonstrations themselves, if they had a particular interest or hobby which they wished to share with others.
Regular monthly activities include: film shows, visits from the PAT dog (Pets as Therapy) in addition to the clubs which have been formed by some of the residents - Bridge, Knitting, Rummicub and Scrabble.
