The Nursing Team
Here at Birtley House we have a dedicated team of qualified nurses and care staff led by our Matron, Karen Williams. The staff are continually updating their knowledge, through mandatory training provided by the company and also from specialist training in areas of care that effect the elderly e.g. pressure prevention. Some of the staff have had specialist training in the use of passive movements in spinal injuries. .jpg)
The staff have considerable experience in working with residents who have specialist needs due to their underlying condition, such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis. Using a holistic approach to care we are also able to support and care for any resident who is in need of palliative care.
Karen Williams, Matron
A high percentage of our care staff have either completed, or are completing, their NVQ levels 2 and 3. This has a direct effect on the care our residents receive, as the knowledge of the care team continually grows.
The introduction of 'Keyworkers', with one named member of the team allocated to each resident, has enhanced the continuity of care for each of our residents.
Above all else, compassion is essential and this is displayed in the way the care staff and the nursing team approach and support the residents. The team aim to “go the extra mile” for our residents, helping to enhance their quality of life and the safe care they deserve to receive.
